Source: EU may prolong individual anti-Russian sanctions without changes
BRUSSELS, Sep 1 (PRIME) -- The E.U. plans to prolong individual sanctions against Russia and Ukraine, expiring on September 15 and regularly being prolonged for six months, without discussions and changes, a diplomatic source in Brussels told PRIME on Thursday.
“Prolongation is a technical issue, it should be done without additional discussion by permanent representatives and the E.U. Council. As far as I know, no changes to the list will be made,” the source said.
The document on prolongation will be discussed at a regular meeting of counsellors on foreign political issues on September 5, he said.
In March, the U.S. extended sanctions against 146 people and 37 corporate bodies in Russia and Ukraine for six months.
